Turn a Vague Tangbuy Spreadsheet Search Into a Useful Query

A useful search names the product family and adds only the detail that changes the next result. It does not try to describe the entire shopping decision in one sentence.

Build it in layers

Start with the product family, add one meaningful descriptor and one missing detail, then include a marketplace only if the source matters. Search after each step. Stop adding words when the results are close enough to compare.

The four-part query ladder

  1. Product family. Start with shoes, hoodie, jacket, pants, bag, watch, accessory, or another category you can compare consistently.
  2. One meaningful descriptor. Add a term that changes the product set: crossbody, running, zip, waterproof, black, leather, oversized, or another observable feature.
  3. One evidence need. Add QC photos, measurements, size chart, dimensions, weight, or source link when missing evidence—not discovery—is the problem.
  4. Optional source. Add Taobao, Weidian, 1688, or Yupoo only when the original marketplace or catalogue route is relevant to the question.
Example ladder: “bag” → “crossbody bag” → “crossbody bag dimensions” → “Weidian crossbody bag dimensions.” Each step has a reason.

Choose category, search, or pasted link

How to repair the first result page

Too broad

Add one discriminator

If shoes mix runners, boots, slides, and casual pairs, add the use or silhouette. If bags mix backpacks and small carry pieces, add the carry type.

Too narrow

Remove the least reliable detail

If no results match, remove marketing language, subjective adjectives, a guessed material, or an uncertain model name before removing the category.

Change one layer at a time. When category, color, source, and model all change together, you cannot tell which change improved or damaged the results.

Use source terms as routing clues

Yupoo is useful when a gallery or seller catalogue is part of the check. Taobao, Weidian, and 1688 are useful when the marketplace listing and option structure matter. A source name should narrow the route, not serve as a quality label.

A link converter may help a service read a marketplace URL, but it does not verify the item. If the converted destination changes the title, option, photos, or source context, treat the link as unresolved.

Know when the search is ready

  • Most visible results belong to the same product family.
  • The results differ on details you can compare.
  • You know what would make one result worth saving.
  • The query is short enough to explain in one breath.
  • The next click has a job: confirm photos, size, source, price context, or weight.

Stop once the results are comparable. More words do not automatically produce a better result.

Use the query on Findsindex

The query opens on Findsindex in a new tab. Tangbuys does not receive or store it.
